Indian Motorcycle, America’s oldest motorcycle company, unveiled a custom Indian Chief Classic at the International Motorcycle Show in New York City. Named the “Big Chief Custom,” this bike was designed by the Polaris Industries Industrial Design team around the 2014 Indian Chief Classic model.
Headed by Greg Brew, the Polaris Industries’ Industrial Design team customized the 2014 Indian Chief Classic with a range of Genuine Indian Motorcycle aftermarket accessories. The customizations included a unique paint scheme, a billet girder front fork, and various enhancements to showcase the potential for personalization.
One standout feature of the Big Chief Custom is the billet aluminum girder front end reminiscent of early Indian models. This custom front end includes a 23-inch front wheel, a custom shock, and a headlight, all designed and built in-house by the team. The bike also boasts a springer-style seat with a modern twist for added comfort.
The “Pinnacle Series” of Indian Motorcycle accessories on the Big Chief Custom includes items like the Cam Cover, Primary Cover, Chrome Grips, Beach Bars, and a Stage 1 exhaust with Fish Tail Tips. Additional custom accessories, such as the War Bonnet Floorboard Pads and chrome Rear Fender Bumper, further enhance the bike’s aesthetics.
The Big Chief Custom is not only a display piece but will also be part of the 2014 International Motorcycle Shows tour across various American cities. This tour showcases the 2014 lineup of Indian Chief motorcycles, including the Chief Classic, Chief Vintage, and the Chieftain, along with other custom displays like the Spirit of Munro and vintage Indian motorcycles.
