Indian Motorcycle has a rich history deeply intertwined with American motorcycle culture. One of its most iconic aspects, the “Wrecking Crew,” has left a lasting legacy since the 1950s. The modern flat track Wrecking Crew, led by Jared Mees, continued this tradition from 2017 to 2024. Now, Indian Motorcycle is ushering in a new era in bagger racing with the announcement of its 2025 Wrecking Crew lineup.
The Indian Motorcycle-S&S Cycle factory team is expanding, welcoming French MotoGP veteran Loris Baz alongside 2024 King of the Baggers Champion Troy Herfoss and two-time champion Tyler O’Hara. This formidable trio will be racing aboard the Indian Challenger, equipped with the powerful PowerPlus motor, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
After a historic 2024 season marked by Herfoss’ dominance, Indian Motorcycle is doubling down on its bagger-racing program for 2025. Gary Gray, Vice President of Product Technology, Racing, and Service for Indian Motorcycle, emphasized the significance of the Wrecking Crew in the brand’s racing heritage, dating back to its founders’ racing roots in 1901.
The Indian Challenger, powered by the innovative overhead-cam, liquid-cooled PowerPlus 112 motor, has proven its mettle on the track. Winning three King of the Baggers championships, Indian Motorcycle has showcased that performance trumps displacement. Its cutting-edge design delivers high horsepower and torque, outperforming competitors with larger engines.
The 2025 Indian Motorcycle-S&S Cycle factory team boasts a stellar lineup. Troy Herfoss, the defending King of the Baggers champion, is set to continue his winning streak aboard the Indian Challenger. Tyler O’Hara, a seasoned rider and two-time champion, brings his fearless approach to the competition. Joining them is Loris Baz, a versatile racer with a proven track record in various premier series.
Baz expressed his honor in joining the legendary Indian Motorcycle Wrecking Crew, recognizing the achievements of Herfoss and O’Hara in previous seasons. The team’s collective aim is to secure another championship in the fiercely competitive King of the Baggers series in 2025.
Indian Motorcycle is not only focusing on its factory team but also supporting two satellite teams for the upcoming season. Cameron Petersen will pilot the SDI Racing Indian Challenger, while Kyle Ohnsorg will compete on the TAB Performance Racing Indian Challenger.
For privateers, Indian Motorcycle is offering substantial rewards, including cash prizes and a brand-new 2025 Indian Challenger Dark Horse. The brand’s commitment to bagger racing is further underscored by partnerships with key sponsors, including S&S, Progressive Insurance, and Mission Foods.
The King of the Baggers season kicks off on March 6 at the Daytona International Speedway, promising thrilling races and intense competition. Indian Motorcycle’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of performance in bagger racing continues to shape the future of the sport, setting the stage for an electrifying 2025 season.
